Has anyone seen “Beautiful Girls?” I love, love, love that movie. There is this scene when the pre-bs Star Wars (I’m sorry, but only the Holy Trilogy stands as real, and the prequels are horrendous, and exist for the sole purpose of George Lucas making money.) in which Natalie Portman says to Timothy Hutton, “Just another exciting Saturday night,” in a super pouty, teenage angst-laden, and forlorn way. The thing is that I’m totally down with moving the hose and eating a meal I made.
My partner left for work about half-an-hour ago. In her industry, she has to work a couple of weekend nights. I’m watering my little patch of grass and writing. I feel grateful.
My new Director is PHENOMENAL. I have never met anyone in upper level management who is as genuine and warm as she is. I would do anything that she asked me to do, and just want to work super hard for her, so that is what I’m going to do. Her work today made the two-hours fly and taught me a lot about thoughtful planning for teaching. Although it was a meeting, it gave me ideas regarding engagement for my class that starts soon. It’s the first time that I’ve taught that class too, so I want to do well.
I work tomorrow morning, so I’m laying low. I do think that I will take Storm on a longer walk. My back is pretty compressed, but she needs to get some wiggles out–which is what we say to my 5-foot tall 9-year-old when he is super energetic. I may work in the garden until it gets dark too. I feel good tonight, and look forward to this next 9-months.
